A Troubled User looking for PC Tech Support

Dear Tech Support,

    Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend version 7.0 to Wife version 1.0.  I soon noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources.  In addition, Wife 1.0 installed itself into all other programs and now monitors all other system activity. Applications such as: Poker Night 10.3, Football 5.0, Hunting and Fishing 7.5, and Racing 3.6.

   I can’t seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run my favorite applications. I’m thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall doesn’t work on Wife 1.0.  Please help me!

Dear Troubled User,

      This is a very common problem that men complain about.  Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0, thinking that it is just a Utilities and Entertainment program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is designed to not allow this. Look in your Wife 1.0 manual under Warnings-Alimony-Child Support. I recommend that you keep Wife 1.0 and work on improving the situation. I suggest installing the  background application “Yes Dear” to alleviate software augmentation.

      The best course of action is to enter the command "C:\APOLOGIZE" because ultimately you will have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the system will return to normal anyway. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but it tends to be very high maintenance. Wife 1.0 comes with several support programs, such as Clean and Sweep 3.0, Cook It 1.5 and Do Bills 4.2.

      However, be very careful how you use these programs. Improper use will cause the system to launch the program Nag Nag 9.5. Once this happens, the only way to improve the performance of Wife 1.0 is to purchase additional software. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Diamonds 5.0!

      WARNING!!! Do not, under any circumstances, install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3. This application is not supported by Wife 1.0 and will cause irreversible damage to the operating system.

Close Up1 Mania
in Bangladesh Music Industry... ...

   As you all know, last year Nolok  was the winner of the first ever musical talent hunt show in Bangladesh  - ‘Close Up1 – Tomakei Khujchhe Bangladesh’. And he was my personal favorite too… I wrote a blog entry on him, when he became the top of that competition by winning the hearts of more than tens of thousands of viewers who voted him to be the king – the first ever ‘Bangladeshi Idol’.

    It’s true that folk songs bring out best in Nolok’s voice, but he showed his maturity in both moderns and oldies in the last year Closeup1 contest. In only last few months, Nolok became almost a myth. We just hope he will develop a great singer in him and enrich to main stream music in Bangla.

    Recently, Nolok’s first solo album ‘She Je Konna Valo’ has been released. It’s a typical folk album as you may have expected from Nolok. This album has 10 melodious tracks! I have listened all of them and I’ve liked some… Specially I should mention the title track ‘She Je Konna Bhalo’ along with some other tracks : ‘Amar Mare Behest Tumi’, ‘Oi Duurer Gaye’,  ‘Ontorer Vitor’… You can download all the tracks of this album from here.

    Top eleven winners of Close Up 1 contest, 2005 recently performed in a music video, sponsored by the Close Up brand titled ‘Bijoy Keton Orey’. The song is very patriotic and highly emotional as well.  Mr. Naushad Chowdhury, Brands & Development Director of Unilever Bangladesh, wrote the lyrics of this patriotic song. The youthful and vibrant music was composed by one and only Bappa Mazumder. The music video of this song is one of the best ever Bangla music videos I have ever seen specially because of its top class making and its beautiful outdoor settings.      Previously, our ‘Lalon Konna’ Beauty released her first solo album titled ‘Chorondashi’ featuring some soulful Lalon songs and some contemporary folk songs. The album contains 10 numbers including ‘Itoropona’, ‘Deho ekhon hashpataley’, ‘Shorboshadhon’, ‘Jomlo na pirit’, ‘Kobey shadhur choron dhuli’ and more. Happy Birthday to MSN Messenger

         Formerly known as  MSN Messenger and now better known as Windows Live Messenger is surely the most popular instant messaging software all over the world. And it's my most favorite too. Recently, I came to know that the first version of MSN Messenger had been shipped on July 22, 1999.  So, today (July 22, 2006) is the 7th Birthday of MSN Messenger aka Windows Live Messenger! And I am writing this blog entry to wish Windows Live Messenger and its team a very happy birthday....  

         Year 2002... this is the year when I had been introduced to this World Wide Web via my broadband internet connection. Within a few days, I came to know about this popular instant messaging software from one of my friends, Shohag. I was so amazed and thrilled when I had chatted first time through this MSN Messenger... I was so fascinated that I used to spend chatting for hours and hours!  I can still remember those interesting days... Since then I've been using MSN Messenger almost every single day... And now it has become a necessity in my life. Thanks to Microsoft for making such a wonderful instant messaging software... and good wishes for Windows Live Messenger on its 7th birthday...

       Yesterday, I got an interesting email saying that today, that's July 20, 2006 is the World Jump Day (WJD) ! In that email, there was a link of the official site of the 'World Jump Day'. This site is asking everyone in the western hemisphere to take part in their jumping project at 11:39.13 GMT on July 20, 2006.

         But what will happen if so many people jump at the same time ???  and why should they jump ???  

       The site is claiming: if 600 million people or more from the western hemisphere jump today at that particular time simultaneously, then it will cause the Earth shift out of its current orbit and into a new one  and "this change in planetary position would very likely stop global warming, extend daytime hours and create a more homogenous climate". This effort has been labeled as World Jump Day and it is the theory of Hans Peter Niesward, from the Department of Gravitationsphysik at the ISA in Munich.  Currently the official site of World Jump Day is claiming that more than 599 million people have been registered already in order to jump and according to World Stats, this would be almost 50% of all internet users all over the world. Surprising... huh ???

       But there is only one problem with this jump theory...  the problem is: Hans Peter Niesward doesn't exist. He is nothing but a character created by Torsten Lauschmann, a  German born artist living in Scotland. And 'World Jump Day' is just an experiment in mob mentality by him... Lauschmann claims 'World Jump Day' started out as a simple thought between friends and quickly escalated into a global phenomenon. In 2005, Lauschmann encouraged scientists and bloggers from around the world to discuss on World Jump Day. You can know more about Torsten Lauschmann from his official site .

Zidane-Materazzi Incident in FIFA World Cup Final
-- A Closer Look

       I am not a hardcore football fan, and my favorite football team is neither Italy nor France, but I was drawn to watch the final of the FIFA World Cup 2006 between Italy and France on Sunday, July 9. Part of the magnetic pull was Zinedine Zidane, a great football player who exemplified the best in sportsmanship, civility and citizenship.

        Zinedine Zidane rose to prominence in the football world despite the many obstacles in his way. He came to be loved by the French, in fact, to be considered quintessentially French. He proudly bore the hopes and dreams of his nation on his shoulders, delivered well when he won the World Cup for France in 1998. He is often spoken of in terms of endearment, lovingly called 'Zissou' by his French countrymen, respected by colleagues and opponents alike for his civility and restraint.

       In this World Cup he brilliantly carried France all the way to the finals against Italy. This was to be his last match before retirement, and France was proudly holding its breath for a send-off that would have honoured his distinguished career as football great. Instead, the world was shocked when towards the end of the game, Zidane, apparently after trading some words with another Italian player, turned, took two steps forward and head-butted him in the chest, sending him falling backwards to the ground.

He grabbed my shirt and I told him to stop. I told him if he wanted I'd swap it with him at the end of the match.

That is when he said some very hard words, which were harder than gestures. He repeated them several times. It all happened very quickly and he spoke about things which hurt me deep down.
 

But then you hear them twice, and then a third time... I am a man and some words are harder to hear than actions. I would rather have taken a blow to the face than hear that.
 

It was seen by two or three billion people watching on television and millions and millions of children.

It was an inexcusable gesture and to them, and the people in education whose job it is to show children what they should and shouldn't do, I want to apologise.
 

We always talk about the reaction, and inevitably it must be punished. But if there is no provocation, there is no reaction.

First of all you have to say there is provocation, and the guilty one is the one who does the provoking. The response is to always punish the reaction, but if I react, something has happened.

Do you imagine that in a World Cup final like that, with just 10 minutes to go to the end of my career, I am going to do something like that because it gives me pleasure?

       Finally, I think, most of you have already heard about the match fixing scandal of the top four teams in Italian Football League (AC Milan, Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina)... Most of the players of the World Cup Winning Italian Team play for those teams... After a long investigation,  Italian Football Federation found this scandal true and gave them a severe punishment for conspiring to rig matches in the top division during the 2004/05 season. Instant Messaging partnership…

       Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo Inc. are beginning a limited test of plans to make their instant messaging systems work together. The much-vaunted pairing comes a bit later than the two companies had originally hoped. The project was delayed because Microsoft wanted to make sure the systems would work well with both companies' millions of users. 

       For now, the Yahoo-Microsoft partnership will only work for sending text back and forth, although the companies said there are plans to eventually add voice capabilities. The executives said there are no current plans to add video capabilities between the two systems, but it could be a possibility later on.

       So now, you can use Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo Messenger with Voice to talk to your friends who use either. There are over 300 million users around the world that you can now communicate with through one client. The most important thing is : you don’t need both Windows Live & Yahoo! accounts to make it work. So if you’re a Windows Live Messenger person, for example, you can keep the same address you’ve always used to sign in, but now have the ability to add and chat with your Yahoo friends. To add a Yahoo! contact in Windows Live Messenger, (after you've  signed up for the beta ) just click on the ‘Add a Contact’ button and type your friends' Yahoo! email address. Then your Yahoo! IM friend will get an invitation, and once they accept you are ready to chat, see when they’re online, nudge them, send emoticons, send offline IMs, and share your witty personal status messages.

      The most notable of the new features is a ‘Friends Module’ which Microsoft had in limited testing for the past several months. With the addition of the Friends Module, you can create a place to hang out with your friends. This Friends Explorer, which will be integrated with and accessible through Windows Live Messenger, will enable you and your friends to explore others and create new friendships, similar to Friendster or MySpace, making spaces more competitive with social networking services.

       In addition, your title and tagline will no longer be limited to the Spaces header. Instead, you can choose to display the title and tagline of your space as a module and have it appear wherever you want it to in your space.  Removing the title from the header means you have more freedom and control over things like your space title and navigation to stuff in your space. Instead of always being stuck at the top, you can place them wherever you want.

      The introduction of bread crumbing and an optional new navigation module will enable you and your visitors to easily navigate through your space. On the screenshot they have shown a ‘Live Search Bar’, I just hope it has the option to search your space first and not the whole MSN Spaces community or even worse just the web. It could give the three searching options to the users though, that would be really cool.

       Windows Live Space team is also going to offer you many new ways to express yourself and customize your space. You’ll be able to add mini-applications called Windows Live Gadgets developed by the community for the community. Now, you must be thinking what the hell this ‘Windows Live Gadget' is!         Of course with all this gr8 stuff, there'll be some changes to your space URL structure. According to the Windows Live Space team, your space URL will be changing one final time with the switchover to Windows Live Spaces. Yap, you guessed it right...you'll see your space URL as <space_id>.spaces.live.com instead of <space_id>.spaces.msn.com. All viewers and users going to the old URL, will be automatically redirected to the new URL. It has been assured that all data and information of the MSN Space user will remain intact, and Microsoft apologizes in advance for any inconvenience, this URL change may cause.

        Announcement of this migration in your space came shortly after the news that MSN Spaces saw record traffic in April,2006. According to comScore Networks, the site counted 101 million visitors that month, making it the most widely used blogging service.
